If you have not got a trunk as part of your home furniture collection then I can only ask, why not? Surely everybody should have at least one shouldn’t they? Surely! The reason I am so adamant about this and that there should be a trunk of some-sort in all households is because of the fact that they are such an efficient furniture unit; they can offer so much storage space, they can fit in well with so many styles and designs and they can also double up as a type of table, or side-table. They also remind me of fond childhood memories as they are where all my toys would be stored as I am pretty certain is the case with many other people of my generation – everyone used to have a toy trunk didn’t they? Or perhaps I was just especially fortunate that my parents where kind enough to let me have one, let alone buy me enough toys to fit inside it and make good use of the space provided.
When I have been furniture shopping myself recently, I have come across many different styles and designs of storage trunks (they no-longer are called toy trunks), and some are stunning. You may think I am going over the top by describing a trunk as being stunning, as it is at the end of the day just a square or rectangular item of furniture – so really, how stunning can it get? I have to stand by my description though as some of the furniture designers have really gone above and beyond and crafted storage trunks that are quite astonishing. You will have to do your own research and you will see what I am raving on about. The trunks in today’s market all cost a lot more than the ones of my childhood, but they are certainly worth it, as they look great, provide ample storage space and make do as a great counter top to be used as a coffee-table, side-table, foot-rest and whatever else your imagination can think of – they are simply great!
There are many new styles of furniture coming to the market all the time, and in recent times we have seen more cleanly sharp, contemporary modern styled furniture ranges becoming more and more popular with the UK homeowner. Some of the new units are really innovative and abstract in look and shape, and very clever in the way they can offer storage and space saving solutions.
Investing in the right modern, abstract furniture units can really add style and character to your home and when placed in the right location they can really bring the rest of the room together, adding another level of class to the room, making the entire living space more of an interesting part of your property, leaving a lasting impression on anyone you have visiting.
One home furniture unit in particular that we have seen an abundance of new fantastic styles added to the wide variety already available within the UK furniture market is the Coffee Table. There are many impressive, futuristic styles of living room coffee tables that offer lots of surface space on multiple levels as well as interesting, innovative storage spaces. Some of these new contemporary coffee tables also come with intelligent lighting systems and are made from new materials that before would not have been found being used within home furniture ranges.
A nice coffee table can really bring a living room to life and help to complete the room, bringing the rest of the furniture together and offering essential space for placing all kinds of decorative items. You will also need a good surface for placing any glasses, plates TV remotes and perhaps console systems. Lots of people tend to go for the glass surface coffee tables, but if you must remember that those glass coffee tables are difficult to keep looking clean and tidy, so perhaps you will prefer something different available with the newer materials being used.
Renovating or designing a room that is suitable for your little ones can be, or is very different than any other room at home. For starters, the furniture needs to be especially made for smaller people for it to be suitable for your child/children, however there needs to be consideration given towards the speed of growth that we all experience in our early life years; you want to avoid buying furniture that will be outgrown by the end of the year. If you have already had the challenge of furnishing a room for your children or perhaps someone else’s, then you will also be aware of the different types of furniture that are great for fitting in a child’s room, but just wound not be suited for other rooms; not only is this true because of the size of the units, but also because of its uses. For example, every child wants a toy box, or toy trunk, which can also double up as a place to store away their towels and excess blankets. Another child suited item of furniture would be a wall hung shelving unit, with hanging pegs. These units are great for storing a variety of cuddly toys, bears and dolls, also the top of the unit is somewhere that can be used to display any trophies your children may have been awarded with, and then the hanging pegs are ideal for hanging your little ones coats and jackets.
When it comes to the sleeping arrangements, you need to decide between fitting a cot, or alternatively purchasing a small child sized single bed. However, for me I am not sure that the child sized bed is a good investment as the children you buy the bed for will probably grow out of that bed within 2 – 3 years, so for me, I would go for a single adult sized bed. Unless of course you have many other children in your home that the bed could be passed down to after the elder one grows out of it. Other smaller furniture units would include a children sized wardrobe, chest of drawers, bed side table and a child’s play-table. If you fit all of these mentioned units within the room for your children, then I am sure they will be happy and have all they need for their possessions and playtime.
It can be very easy to fill your room or entire home with unnecessary clutter, and it can also happen surprisingly fast. No matter how big your property is, there is always a chance of cluttering up the space if you do not pay attention to what you are doing day to day and taking some time to consistently clear up after yourself, or perhaps others you live with, or invite over for afternoon tea. Many people actually almost have a type of mental disorder where they find it very difficult to let go of any possessions, no matter how insignificant the item might be, the owner just cannot face throwing out, and so will always find a place for it somewhere, even if that somewhere is stuffed behind some other clutter in a spot where they will never find it again, or at least not come across it for a very long time. To avoid such situations of living in a cluttered home, you will need to invest in some storage furniture, which will be the perfect, easily manageable solution, You will be able to find all kinds of storage furniture solutions if you spend a bit of time searching online; many different styles, shapes and sizes.
My advice would be to invest in storage solutions that are of a high standard, made well and will add more quality to your home. There are many hard-wood storage furniture units that will look great in any room & offer a lot of space for clearing away lots of the clutter. Take care to ensure the items you are considering to buy are well made though, and only buy the furniture units that are made to last. Stay away from cheap storage solutions that will be an eye sore sitting in the corner of your room. They will just cramp your style and frustrate you perhaps nearly as much as the clutter. So although those types of storage solutions will save you a great deal of money, it is not worth your happiness.
Something that I always go for when searching for storage solutions is a wooden or metal made storage trunk. The trunks provide a huge amount of space and can look fantastic, adding character and style to your home.
The television is the centre piece of most people’s living rooms, however it is becoming less common for people to complement their new HD, or HD 4K TV’s by investing in a stylish, solid TV stand, instead it is now more likely that the TV will be fixed onto a wall bracket, sometimes with an out-swinging arm for flexibility and easy re-positioning. While these wall brackets for TV’s are actually highly efficient in regards to saving space as well for being able to watch the television at a good angle, no matter where you are seated in your living/dining room, we have to be honest with ourselves and admit that by replacing the traditional TV stand with the wall brackets, we are sacrificing what was once one of the most stylish items of furniture in many livings rooms.
A good quality TV stand will not only look great, and add lots of character to your room, but it also will serve you well as an extra place for storing various items usually found lying around ones living room or now likely being stacked in a bookshelf or living room storage cabinet. If you look around online you will find a number of furniture websites that stock and sell some great looking TV stands, usually made from some type of wood, although there are also some fantastic more modern looking stands that are specially crafted from a metal of some sort, giving them a sharp, industrial look that for me is a little too cold.
If you agree with the above sentiments about it being a shame that there are so many livings rooms these days that are missing out on this vital piece of home furniture, and you are thinking of buying one to add to your home, so that your new stylish widescreen HD TV has suitably stylish unit to stand proudly upon, then I can highly recommend that you search around for TV stands from the Mobel Oak & Heyford Rough Sawn Oak ranges of home furniture; both of these furniture ranges boast the highest quality in home furniture units. The stands will add character & style to your home, perfectly complementing your new TV. They will also be so well made that, if looked after properly, they will last you your entire lifetime.
